Littlehampton Quakers are a small but lively community of adults and childen who come together regularly for Meeting for Worship
We also have opportunities for fellowship, study and open mornings where we raise funds for different charities
Littlehampton Quakers have many links in the local community and beyond. We are members of Littlehampton Churches Together.
Littlehampton Quakers are a Friendly group who explore spirituality by meeting together. Meetings for Worship are held in silence. If moved, anyone can share a thought or insight and this may enhance the gathered stillness. Each person has their own set of beliefs but there is a common view that there is that of God or the Universal Spirit within every living being. Accessing it can help and guide our daily lives.
Every Sunday, we have books and toys available for younger visitors. On the first Sunday of each month, we go a step further and organise special activities just for children—these can take place in a separate room, or sometimes as part of our ‘All Age Worship’, where children and adults come together to share in a gentle, themed time of worship and creative activities.
Past themes have included ‘Peace’, ‘Sustainability’, 'Invisible Strings', 'Friendship' and many other issues young people think about (actually we all think about!)
Don't worry we understand that bringing children to a mostly silent meeting can feel a bit daunting however, in our experience, children are often calmed by the peaceful atmosphere—and if not, their joyful energy and unique contributions are cherished as part of our community!
If you have any questions about visiting with children or want to know more about our family-friendly activities, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Presented here are a selection of YouTube videos: one captures the distinctive atmosphere of a Quaker Meeting for Worship, while four others share the diverse personal journeys that have drawn individuals from various backgrounds into the Quaker Meeting. Each narrative beautifully illustrates the experience of sitting together in silence and highlights the profound impact of seeking goodness in everyone present.
